Arrive in India’s modern capital with its broad boulevards, museums, excellent shopping, fine dining and exquisite architecture.

Tour of this regal city of contrasts. Visit Old Delhi where the Raj Ghat stands as a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, see the Universal Mosque of Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, and tour the Red Fort. Drive past the fabled Chandni Chowk (Silver Street), alleys filled with Gold and Silversmiths, an exotic spice market, and colorful fabric merchants. Return to bustling New Delhi and visit Emperor Humayun’s Tomb, the Qutub Minar. Drive past India Gate and House of Parliament, before visiting Judah Hyan Hall Synagogue on Humayun Road.

Drive to Agra and view the Taj Mahal. Here you will learn about the Jewish influence during the Moghul period in India and the little known Jewish connection to the Taj Mahal. This legendary monument of love is poetry in marble with perfect symmetry and harmony. Also visit the magnificent Agra Fort built by Emperor Akbar, and view the vineyards and the rose garden from where the perfumed rose water was pumped directly to the emperor’s chambers! This well-preserved fortress is reminiscent of both the glorious and sorrowful, Moghul reign.

Drive across the plains of Uttar Pradesh to the fabled 'Pink City' of Jaipur. En-route visit the Ghost Capital of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, Fathepur Sikri. This is one of the most beautiful fortresses in India, and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. It is built entirely of red sandstone, except for the tomb of the saint Salim Chisti, which in stunning contrast, is built in pristine white marble.

This bustling walled city is built of pink sandstone and is one of the most interesting royal cities of India. Visit the fairy tale like Amber Fort, as you ascend the hill like a Maharaja on the back of an elephant, known for its exquisite mirrored halls and its lofty ramparts. Later, visit the City Palace of the Jaipur Maharaja, the honeycomb designed Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), and the amazingly accurate Jantar Mantar stone observatory.

This morning drive to Udaipur enroute stop for Lunch at Chittorgarh.. Udaipur the lake city of Udaipur, perhaps the most romantic of all Indian cities, often called "the Venice of the East". Exotic gardens, mirror-calm lakes, and fantasy island palaces surround it. . This evening enjoy a pleasant sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola and sail around Jagmandir Temple favored by the Maharaja.

Visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari (garden of the maidens) where women of the royal household met and played. View the exquisite Jagdish Temple and Jagat Temples located just outside the City Palace.

Drive to Ahmedabad, founded in 1411 by Ahmed Shah. By the year 1600 AD Ahmedabad was considered to be the finest city in India, and remained so until Delhi emerged. This afternoon, tour Ahmedabad, before visiting Magen Abraham Synagogue, established in 1933 by Dr. Solomon.

Fly to Mumbai (Bombay) and take a city tour, including Mani Bhawan, Hanging Garden, Dhobi Ghat, and the Prince of Wales Museum, which contains a number of exotic Jewish artifacts. In the evening, visit Gate of Mercy Synagogue (Shaar Ha-Rahamim in Hebrew or Juni Masjid), which was established in 1796. The street on which the synagogue stands is named Samaji Street and presently known as Samuel Street. The Synagogue celebrated its bi-centenary in 1996. Have lunch at a typical Brahmin (strict Hindu or "priestly") vegetarian restaurant. Shabbat services will be held at a nearby synagogue, where you will also meet the Sephardic Baghdadi community and spend the afternoon with them.

During the religious persecutions in Israel in the time of King Antiochus 2,200 years ago, some Jews escaped to India and were shipwrecked off the coast of Bombay. The few survivors came ashore, kept the faith, and lived in interior villages. They were known as the Bene Israel or "Sabbath oil pressers". Take a day trip to the original landing site at Navgoan, which is now a historic monument, and later to a primitive Bene Israel village. In the afternoon return to the city, where you are free to rest and explore on your own.

Fly to the seacoast city of Cochin, where you will walk through the site of one of the most fascinating and least known chapters of the ‘kindest Diaspora in Jewish history’. Walk through Jew Town located in the Mattancherry area and visit one of the most famous synagogues of India – The Pardesi Synagogue. It stands on the grounds of the Maharaja of Cochin’s residence. It is the first Synagogue, which came into existence in the commonwealth and is one of the oldest in the world! It has a Hebrew clock tower and a gold Torah crown, a gift from the Maharajah. Hold the original copper plates that established a Jewish kingdom in the 4th century!

Tour Cochin, visiting Kochi Harbor, St. Francis Church and the famous Chinese Mattancherry Fishing Nets. Visit a spectacular local museum that depicts a typical kerala house with exquisite art and architecture. In the evening see a Kathakali Dance performance.

Drive about 3 hours to Komarakom and board a beautifully converted rice barge to see the rural life while cruising down Kerala’s scenic ‘Backwaters’.

Early this morning, disembark the houseboat at Allepey and drive to Cochin and fly to Chennai, one of the most important cities in South India and check in to your hotel.

Drive to the coastal town of Mahabalipuram, home to the spectacular shore temples. Mahabalipuram was the second capital and seaport of the Pallava kings of Kanchipuram (the first Tamil dynasty of any real consequence). These shore temples strike a very romantic theme and are amongst some of India's most photographed monuments. The sculptures depict interesting scenes from daily life. A one and a half hour drive brings you to Kanchipuram also known as Siva Vishnu. It is one of the 7 holiest Hindu cities and famous for its spectacular temples and exquisite silk weavings with gold and silver threads. Meet descendants of the weavers that were employed to make intricate silk weavings for the Pallava Kings.

Drive to Chennai and take a city tour, visiting St. George Fort, built in 1653 by the British East India Company, which houses the secretariat and the legislative assembly. Tour St. Mary's Church built in 1678-80, the first English church, and the oldest surviving British construction, in India. Do some last minute shopping and transfer to the international airport for your flight home.
